Contemporary marbled boards, calf spine, chipped with some losses, large 4to
Castle Eden was a house designed in a castellated Gothick style for Rowland Burden, a banker from Newcasle upon Tyne, and appears to be the first of a series of country houses in the North-East of England designed or remodelled by the local architect William Newton. The design is a simple one with Gothic battlements, corner turrets and arched windows imposed on a relatively modest square Georgian house, as shown in this album, doubtless presented by Newton to his client, either before or after the building of the house.

Rare commemoration published on the occasion of Nobel's 50th birthday, which coincided with Branobel's 30th anniversary. With Emanuel at the helm from 1888, Branobel became, by 1917, the largest oil company in Russia. Almost certainly privately published by Branobel in a small edition: WorldCat has no records.
