NOTE: Either genuine goodwill towards -or perhaps the importance of signalling allegiance to the reinstated monarchy was such that the motifs decorating this mortar are not uncommon. Similarly adorned examples are held by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain and also by the Wellcome Trust at the Science Museum in London.

NOTE: The title was created on 4 August 1766 for Prime Minister William Pitt the Elder, along with the subordinate title Viscount Pitt, of Burton Pynsent in the County of Somerset .
On his death in 1778, his eldest son, John Pitt inherited the titles of 2nd Earl. On the death of his mother, Hester Pitt, Countess of Chatham (1720-1803), he also inherited the title Baron Chatham , of Chatham in the County of Kent, which had been created in the Peerage of Great Britain on 4 December 1761. When he died childless on 24 September 1835, all three titles became extinct.

A late 19th Century Taxidermy of a Golden Eagle by F Sergent of Oban. The Eagle shown perched on a naturalistic rocky outcrop the backboard painted in a coastal scene, paper label to reverse reading " F Sergent Oban, Taxidermist", the label and backboard appear original however the case has been later restored, 94cm high, 78cm wide, 34 cm deep.

A giltwood, composition and maple 'Grecian' concert harp by Sebastian Erard, early 19th century; serial number 4543; the serpentine top rail with brass plate engraved Sebastian Erard Harp & Pianoforte Maker in Ordinary to her Majesty and the ROYAL FAMILY; above a relief modelled frieze of winged tritons flanking lyres, above three adorsed caryatids, and a fluted shaft; the tapered semi-cylindrical sound board with hoho birds amongst scrolling foliate arabesques; the shaped base with further Neoclassical figural and foliate motifs, with hinged brass pedals; on four stylised paw feet; 169cm high, 82cm wide
NOTE: The instrument is offered with documentation relating to restoration work carried out in 2007 and 2009. The most important work executed was the fitting of a new soundboard.
Also with the lot is a fabric cover for the harp and small quantity of sheet music books
