Lot No: 15 - Ref No: 005 All Creatures Great and Small By Elizabeth Kitson Summer Holiday Home: Dartmoor National Park Outreach Vehicle Sponsored by: West of England Motor Club "I first rode a pony on Dartmoor as a child nearly 80 years ago and went on to win the pony championship at the Royal international Horse Show aged 7. I went on to win the next two years running and later I wrote a book about my pony, Legend, who was born on Dartmoor. Riding every day Dartmoor's tors, scenery, wild flowers and animals were beautiful and exciting - a great escape from the restrictions of the war. Married life and teaching riding have taken me around the world, as well as many places in this country but I never forgot Dartmoor. I have been commissioned to paint many different living things from portraits of people to horses as well as landscapes and wildlife, I am interested to capture its essence and I especially love the colour and movement. I paint in oils, water colours, pastels, and my sculptures are cast in bronze. Painting is a great passion and as nature is under threat so I want to record the magic of it. I hope my otter, with its nearly two hundred images painted in enamel will inspire people to look at and preserve the natural world." This Otter is a 'Golden Otter' - one that has been specially selected by a panel of expert judges as being particularly stunning. Of the 81 Moor Otters there are only 25 Golden Otters. These Golden Otters will take their online bids to the live auction on Saturday, 2nd October 2021 at Bearnes, Hampton & Littlewood, Okehampton St, Exeter. You can continue to bid on these otters at the live auction in person or online.
